ABSTRACT
Leaks and failure of embankments are usually caused by a decrease in the condition and ability of irrigation canal layers, cracks and collapse of embankments are some of the main problems in irrigation canals, this is generally caused by damage to canals due to decreased service function or poor quality materials during construction. Retaining walls are built to hold back soil or to overcome landslides. The aim of this research is to calculate the stability of the retaining wall which includes overturning and shearing and to determine the stability of the soil support failure of the retaining wall. The method used is descriptive quantitative. There are two types of data needed, namely primary data and secondary data. For data calculation techniques using the Rankine and Terzaghi methods. The results of research and calculations show that calculating rolling and shear stability using the Rankine method, and stability against collapse of the soil bearing capacity using the Terzaghi method can be said to be safe. Thus it can be concluded that the calculation of the stability of the retaining wall made using the Rankine technique is declared safe against overturning 9.369 ≥1.5, the stability of shifting with a value of 9.930 ≥2 And the results of the calculation of the stability of collapse of the soil bearing capacity using the Terzaghi method can be declared safe with value 5.809 > 3.
