Abstract

Supervision is an supervision carried out by the leader to provide direction and guidance to his staff. In an
instituition, the principal of a school is very much needed in carrying out his supervision to achieve the
goals of the success of his institution. The principal is a functional teacher who has task of leading and
fostering teachers so that they become a profesisional workfoce and can maintain their professionalism
as a teacher. Reseach focus includes (1) Implamentation of school principal supervision, (2) Improve
teacher professionalism, (3) Implementation of principal supervision in improving teacher
professionalism. From the research result it can be concluded (1) Implementation of school principal
supervision at MTs. Miftahul Ulum 1 is held once a semester, namely in April and October every year. And
once a month in term of teaching and learning activities and teacher interactions with teachers and
teachers with students, (2) Improving the professionalism of teachers MTs. Miftahul Ulum 1 the principal
provides programs for teachers, namely: Training programs, increasing academic levels, workshops,
upgrading, improving performance, holding comparative studies, etc, (3) Implementation of school
principal supervision in improving MTs. Miftahul Ulum 1’s teacher professionalism the principal also took
part in making lesson plans, by checking the content of the lesson plans directly, adjusting the lesson
plans with the material taught by teacher.
