Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berfikir kritis pada konsep fluida statis untuk mata kuliah fisika dasar dengan menggunakan multimedia berbasis simulasi PhET (Physics Education Technology). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dan desain control group pretest - postest. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa program studi pendidikan fisika dan pendidikan kimia FKIP Universitas Malikussaleh. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara cluster random sampling yang memiliki kemampuan yang sama, tanpa mengacak mahasiswa tiap kelasnya. Pengelompokan sampel terdiri dari dua kelas. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes tertulis berupa soal pilihan ganda sebanyak 20 soal pretes dan postes. Pada tahap selanjutnya dilakukan uji hipotesis setelah data dinyatakan berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Uji perbedaan rata-rata dilakukan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berfikir kritis mahasiswa kelompok eksperimen lebih baik daripada kelompok kontrol. Hasil uji t menunjukkan pembelajaran yang menggunakan simulasi PhET dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berfikir kritis mahasiswa, dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Kata kunci: PhET, Tingkat representasi fisika, Keterampilan berfikir kritisAbstract The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills in the concept of static fluid for basic physics courses using multimedia-based PhET (Physics Education Technology) simulations. The research method used is the experimental method and the pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all students of physics education and chemistry education study program FKIP Malikussaleh University. The sampling technique is done by cluster random sampling which has the same ability, without randomizing the students of each class. Sample grouping consists of two classes. Data collection techniques were carried out using written tests in the form of multiple choice questions as many as 20 questions on pretest and posttest. In the next stage the hypothesis is tested after the data is declared to be normally and homogeneously distributed. The average difference test is done to find out the improvement of critical thinking skills of the experimental group students better than the control group. T test results show that learning using PhET simulations can improve students' critical thinking skills, compared with conventional learning.
