Abstract

Kebo Ketan Traditional Ceremony is a ceremony held in Sekar Alas Village, Widodaren District,
Ngawi Regency. This traditional ceremony is held once a year every month in the Birthday of the
Prophet. This traditional ceremony is carried out by the Sekar Alas Village community in order to
be grateful for the blessings that Allah SWT has given to the surrounding community. This
traditional ceremony has an influence on the pattern of thinking and collective lifestyle in
preserving regional culture and protecting the surrounding environment. Research using the theory
of functions of the William R. Bascom Folklor Function and cultural value theory of C.
Kluckhohn. Thus research focuses on the function, value and influence of the traditional ceremony
of Kebo Ketan for Sekar Alas people.

The purpose of this stufy is to describe function and value in influencing mindset and lifestyle
based on theory that has been determined.
This study uses a qualitative approach. The researchers go directly to the field to examine object
directly. Data collection techniques usd are observation, interviews, and document use. Data
analysis techniques use deskriptive techniques based on theory functions of William R. Bascom
and cultural value of C. Kluckhohn.
The result of the research are descriptions of (1) function of the traditional ceremony of Kebo
Ketan for Sekar Alas people, (2) value of the traditional ceremony of Kebo Ketan for Sekar Alas
people and (3) influence of the traditional ceremony of Kebo Ketan for Sekar Alas people.
