PENGARUH TEKNOLOGI KOMUNIKASI TERHADAP PERGESERAN BUDAYA LOKAL REMAJA SUKU TENGGER DI DESA ARGOSARI KECAMATAN SENDURO KABUPATEN LUMAJANG

Abstract

The shifting of local culture becomes a phenomenon in the lives of people that
has been already unavoidable. Many factors cause a cultural shift, including the
entrance of a new culture. The new culture is not only brought by communication
technology, but also the change of belief that contrasts with previous culture, so that
the local culture sought to keep will changes, even something worse could happen
namely cultural uprooting. The purpose of this study were to analyze the influence
of communication technologies toward local cultural shift among teenagers of
Tengger tribe.
The location of this research was Argosari Village, Senduro Subdistrict,
Lumajang. This research used a qualitative approach. Data were collected through
interviews, observation and documentation. The validity of the data used source
triangulation techniques and theory triangulation. Data were analyzed using data
collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of this study indicate that communication technologies can shift the local culture
namely change the adolescent lifestyle as the form of culture acculturation, shift the
social adolescent norm, and can loosen the adherence toward the custom event.
