Pendekatan pengajaran matematika yang lebih kontekstual dan inovatif dalam menyelesaikan masalah sangatlah penting. Penelitian ini untuk membuat pembelajaran matematika lebih menarik dan relevan dengan mengaitkan konsep matematika dengan praktik dan budaya lokal. Problem Based Learning (PBL) bernuansa etnomatematika ini tidak hanya meningkatkan keterampilan matematika mahasiswa tetapi juga meningkatkan pemahaman budaya mereka. Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Hasil penelitian yang didapat yaitu Problem Based Learning (PBL) bernuansa etnomatematika melalui transformasi geometri dalam unsur budaya Yogyakarta yaitu motif batik kawung secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa
