STRUKTUR NARATIF LEGENDA SULTAN PRABU WIJAYA (KAJIAN STRUKTURALISME VLADIMIR YAKOVLEVICH PROPP)

Abstract

Sultan Prabu Wijaya legend is one of oral tradition which is spread hereditaryly in
the society of Wonomerto village, Wonosalam district, Jombang. Sultan Prabu
Wijaya ia a figure respected by society because of his merit of Islamic teaching
spread in Wonomerto village. Through this legend, it is known the origin of the
village, its name, and important roles of all figures which is still respected by society
until now, although those figures have gone. This research uses the theory of
structuralism presented by Vladimir Yakovlevich Propp. Focus of this research is related to function and action of subject. This research aims to describe function
and action of subject in dari the legend of Sultan Prabu Wijaya based on
structuralism theory by Vladimir Yakovlevich Propp. This research uses qualitative
approach combine with ethnography method. Data collected by observation,
interviewing, recording, taking notes, and library study. Data are analyzed by
descriptive method based on narrative structure model of Vladimir Propp. This
research found description about 18 function of subject with 16 repetition and 6
action of subject consisting of 12 function of subject in Sultan Prabu Wijaya
legend.
